Hi everyone! While Kat and Izzy are resting, I thought I would make a post and put up some pictures that everyone has been begging for. This is my first time doing this whole blogging thing, so here goes!
So on New Years Eve, we went to Pastor Jerry and Melissa's house to ring in the new year, and mourn the loss of the tax deduction for 2010. But alas, Isabella has her own timing and wanted to make sure we have the whole year to earn that deduction. The night was great and we had tons of fun playing Apples to Apples and chowing down on some good food. And then we went home, still preggo, uncomfortable and ready to have a baby(at least that was me, not really sure what Kat was feeling). And then it began....
On the first, we got up and Kat thought her water might have broken, so we had breakfast and went to Labor and Delivery. They weren't able to tell if her water had actually broke, so they did an ultrasound and found out that she didn't have enough ambeotic fluid for them to let us leave, so they admitted us!
Of course we didn't bring our hospital bags, (Because if we had, we wouldn't have been admitted..) so I ran home to take care of the dogs and grab the bags. The nurses were also nice enough to let Kat have a last meal before they started the Pitocin to induce her. Arby's never tasted so good!
They started the Pitocin and we waited... and waited... well, Kat did at least. I was listening to the Oklahoma game on the radio. (Kat and I got married during an OU game, so it was kind of fitting that they induce her during an OU game!) Not really important, but ESPN Radio in Seattle switched from covering the Fiesta Bowl in the middle of the game to a Thunderbird hockey game... minor league hockey is apparently more important than the Fiesta Bowl. (This would never happen in the southern part of the country!)
Things weren't changing, because of Kat's cervical cancer a couple years ago, they thought they were going to have to do a procedure to break up the scar tissue. Sooooo, in came the anesthesiologist and she got her epidural. And in typical Kat fashion, like the 3 times they poked her to get an IV started, they had to poke her twice for the epidural. This is the pictures start... don't know why, I'm pretty sure we just forgot we have a $500 camera until this point.
After the epidural, she was feeling really good and the nurse told us to get some sleep. So at midnight, I went to sleep and Kat tried to get some sleep. That was midnight. At 3:05am, Kat woke me up. She said she was feeling some weird pressure so we called the nurses in.
The nurses, Ivy and Megan, who were awesome by the way, came in and went crazy. They went to check her cervix and immediately told Kat to start pushing. They called the doctors in and 21 minutes later, our sweet baby girl came out, screaming her head off!! She went straight to her Mom's tummy and instantly we were in love.
6lbs, 10 ox, 19" long, and already had me around her little finger. She is perfect in every way. After they made sure she had 10 fingers, 10 toes, 3 eyes(Just kidding), a mouth and a nose, we got to hold her and take more pictures. So I am going to stop talking and put some pictures up. Oh yea, I almost forgot, even though she was born on the 2nd, Izzy was the first baby born at Naval Hospital Bremerton of 2011! The nurses brought in a diaper cake(which was very disappointing when I found out that it wasn't really cake! I love cake!) and a crown. They took pictures and had a mini party! It was fun!
So without further ado............
Introducing Isabella Jo Bolin!
She was so chill from the start
"Hi everybody! I'm Izzy and this is my Mom!"
Our first family photo
Calm and collected getter her feet printed
Running on pure adrenaline. And maybe just a bit overwhelmed.
Momma and her crown
Our awesome nurses, Ivy, Megan and Smith. They brought in the diaper cake we got for having the first baby of the new year for the hospital
She was not impressed with her first bath
Izzy and her crown she got for being the first baby of the new year at NHB
How can you not love this sweet girl??
Her big ol' feet. If she ever grows into her feet, she will be 10 feet tall!
Sooner born, Sooner bred
My 2 favorite girls. I am a very very lucky guy
Isabella and her BFF Elliana. With Mom's Kat and Lacie
So many people came by the room. Most of them came at the same time :) At one point we had 14 people in our room! Thanks to everyone who came by!
Two VERY proud Dads! Our friend from church Sam and his daughter Mikayla
We are going home early!!! Thanks Aunt Mandy for the going home outfit!
Izzy and Broono are best friends already. Broono is right there if she is crying to see if he can help in anyway. I have a feeling that no one is going to be able to mess with Miss Izzy. When Broono protects something he REALLY protects something.
And finally, my personal favorite. 3 Generations of beautiful women in one picture.
Hope everyone enjoyed the pictures. Much, much more to come later. And thanks to everyone who has sent encouragement and love to us during this whole time. We really are loved by so many people.
-Casey
