Today is the perfect day to look back on this day three years ago... I was teaching, Casey was visiting me on leave (working with a recruiter a mile away from my school)... we were engaged; had a venue and other assorted things rolling for our wedding in August. We joked about going to the court-house in the mean time, but both thought it was just a joke... then the numbers ($$) started getting rolled around. Done. We knew this was the real deal- why not start making a little extra money now and start saving?! New front load washer and drier here we come! How exciting is that? Doesn't get more exciting for us!! The next thing I know I'm calling in and we were trying to line up witnesses. My sister, Amanda, my dear, amazing friend, Kirstie, and Casey's best friend Scotty... well, Scotty couldn't (he has a big boy job and couldn't just take off)... so Kirstie had to clean a house (what she was doing for money at the time) and then we were on our way to Norman to pick up Amanda and head to the court-house. I should state here that Amanda says she didn't really know that we were doing; she thought this was just preliminary paperwork for our wedding in August. OoOoPs. She was not happy about doing this- after all, NO ONE knew; except the five of us. Yep, that's correct- our poor parents somehow were left out of the loop. Yeah, not cool. I know, I know. We were silly, crazy in love, couldn't wait to be married, and most of all- wanted a new front load washer and drier! HAHA! No, but seriously... ;) So we said our 'I do's'.. didn't even have rings to exchange. (We honestly didn't think about this part and were quite embarrassed. We went RIGHT to the mall after the ceremony and bought bands.) We left the court house and my mom just happened to call.... I 'joked' about just leaving the court house, and she could tell there was a little seriousness to my voice. What can I say- I've never been able to lie to my mom!! Needless to say, neither she nor my dad spoke to us for two days. Two days later we all (both sets of parents, Amanda, and us) had dinner together and everyone was happy and understood why we did what we did, but we hurt they weren't there. We felt so ridiculous for not thinking of that- we honestly didn't think it was that big of a deal, but in all actuality it was a huge deal and having our parents there would have been great. Man. But Amanda and Kirstie are the ones on our marriage license as our witnesses and it is what it is. Now if Isabella EVER even THINKS about doing this she will be locked in her room for.... forever!!!!! Six months later we were married in front of all of our A*MAZING friends and family. It was seriously the most amazing and fun night... we look back and talk about our (second) wedding often. Such an amazing day.... so much love. If this is the first time you are finding out about this I hope you can join us in our laughter this year- too!! ;)
As I mentioned above, Isabella is EIGHT weeks old today!! Her two month apt is Friday (March 4th), which means shots. I'm terrified. I'll probably be crying more than she is... no, I know I will be. She's such a tough girl!
This is a 0-3 month onsie. She is 2 months old and it's still huge on her!! It wont fit her till May when it's (hopefully) hot outside and people will give me all kinds of looks for dressing my kid in polar-fleece during the summer. Who would have ever thought she'd be so little?! She's getting so long- but no chubby kid here!
Saturday was declared 'clean the house (finally) day.' We put Izzy to work, too.
Happpppy 3rd Anniversary my love!!!! These last three years have been crazy... we've moved, and moved again, grown closer and more in love by the day, grown to laugh at each other when all we really want to do is cry (insert our word here), know what the other is thinking without saying a word... You are my world. Thank you for being such an amazing husband and daddy. Can't wait to see what the next 33 years will bring us! Love you for forever and ever and ever!!
Also, Happpppppy Birthday to my A*MAZING friend Kirstie. You have been there for me through it all and I'm so thankful for your friendship. Thank you for sharing your 21st birthday with us three years ago... you're the bestest. XoXo Love you Lou!!
